Interpreting Service Policy

I. Prices: Call ASL Interpreter Referral Service, Inc. (ASL) at (800) 275-7551 to get the rates and more information about complete terms and conditions.


1. Minimum Fee: A two (2) hour minimum charge will be applied to all assignments, even if the Interpreter is not needed for the full hour.

2. Billing increments are within whole or half-hour units only.

3. Time allotted: the Interpreter may stay as long as necessary, if his/her schedule permits. The Interpreter is not required to stay over the contracted time.

4. Holidays: Services on major holidays are billed at holiday rates.

II. As Interpreting for periods longer than two (2) hours is mentally and physically tiring for Interpreters, and fatigue affects the quality of the Interpretation, any assignment lasting more than two (2) hours will require more than one Interpreter. This ensures the delivery of quality services.

III. Travel expenses for the Interpreter will be added to the total cost of the Interpreting fee. These expenses include: mileage reimbursement at the U.S. Government’s standard rate, parking fee and/or public transportation fees unless othewise negotiated. Billing increments for portal to portal travel time are within whole or half-hour units only. This policy varies according to Interpreter and distance. Please confirm at time of scheduling applicable terms and conditions.

IV. Cancellation Fee: ASL will bill for an assignment which is not canceled within two business* days (48 hours) of the scheduled date. Monday assignments must be canceled by 5pm on the Wednesday before. This applies to each day or portion thereof, of an assignment. If a full day assignment lasts only one half day, you will be charged for the full day (original contracted time), or if a week-long assignment is canceled at any point after the start date, the full week will be billed (original contracted time). Consumers wishing to cancel any service must contact the ASL Office directly at 800-275-7551.

V. Volume Discounts are available. Call for more information.

VI. Payment in full is expected upon receipt of invoice:


1. MasterCard, Visa and American Express credit cards are accepted.

2. After thirty (30) days, a Late Payment fee of $29.00 will be assessed on a monthly basis.

Communication Access Real Time Translation (CART)

2. Billing increments are within whole or half-hour units only.

3. Time allotted: the Stenographer may stay as long as necessary, if his/her schedule permits. The Stenographer is not required to stay over the contracted time.

4. Holidays: Services on major holidays are billed at holiday rates.

II. As Stenotyping for periods longer than two (2) hours is mentally and physically tiring for Stenographers, and fatigue affects the quality of the typing, any assignment lasting more than two (2) hours will require more than one Stenographer. This ensures the delivery of quality services.

These expenses include: mileage reimbursement at the U.S. Government’s standard rate, parking fee and/or public transportation fees, and portal to portal at the hourly rate. Billing increments for portal to portal travel time are within whole or half-hour units only. This policy varies according to Interpreter and distance.
